Third-Party Draw Service

The Third-Party Draw Service is useful for people who operate raffles, sweepstakes, promotional giveaways and other lottery type services professionally. In a similar fashion to a certified official, RANDOM.ORG acts as an unbiased third party who conducts the drawings in a manner that is guaranteed to be fair and truly random. The drawings are made using true randomness that comes from atmospheric noise, which for many purposes is better than the pseudo-random number algorithms typically used in computer programs.

Check out the Public Records for details about recent drawings held with the service.

Here is how it works:

  1. You register for a RANDOM.ORG account with at least $4.95 worth of prepaid credit. (PayPal accepted.)
  2. You login to RANDOM.ORG and upload a list of entrant identifiers, such as email addresses or Twitter IDs. (These are not published on the web and never shared with anyone.) You can also pull the entrant list directly from your Facebook friends or the attendees in one of your Facebook events. (Using people who ‘like’ your page on Facebook is unfortunately against the Facebook Promotions Guidelines, so we can't do that, but we recommend that you arrange your giveaways as Facebook events instead.)
  3. You select the number of winners.
  4. RANDOM.ORG picks the winner(s) using true randomness, makes a record of the drawing on the RANDOM.ORG site, sends you an email confirmation and finally debits your prepaid credit for the drawing cost. (Check out the full pricing details.)
  5. Winners and losers in your drawing can go to RANDOM.ORG and verify the result for at least five years. (We have a clever way of doing that without revealing people's email addresses or Twitter IDs.) You can also keep the record private if you prefer.

Sounds easy? It really is. Check out the Video Guide to see it in action or see the FAQ for answers to common questions.
